The Rolling Stones Experience

The Rolling Stones, arguably the world’s biggest rock band, have confirmed their tour dates for Australia.

The tour celebrating The Stones’ 50 years together is going to be their last, and clearly the ticket prices are meant to reflect the historic significance of this event: almost $600 for a class-A ticket.

What do you think about this kind of ticket pricing? Are you going to see The Stones for the last time?

Saw these magic guys perform in Brissy 1995 for hubby's 50th....awesome!! Also in Melbourne 1964. Think I paid $100 per ticket then! Still love them, but no way no how could I afford $600.... Will always be a big fan!

I would love to see them, it would be a once in a lifetime experience but not at those prices! I don't understand how other bands can come here and sell tickets for less - I hate to say it but it seems like a money grab to me !

Save some money, go to an old peoples home play the music through headphones and you will get the same experience, saw them earlier this year at Glastonbury and it wasn't the Rolling Stones I knew but a bunch of elderly men trying to imitate them, great for the nostalgia and good for a sing along, because they do drop a lot of lines that are picked up by the crowd who sang over them mostly at anyway. Last time I saw the Stones perform was in '89 and I wish I had left it at that so I could remember them as the great band they were and one that I loved instead of the way I remember them now :/

For all those trying to remember the concert/s in 1965. I was there at the Manufacturer's Pavllion, aged 15, just rows from the stage. Can't recall the cost but Brian Jones, the heart of the band is long gone and now you're all paying for techno tricks. http://www.milesago.com/tours/stones65.htm

The money they have made over the years it should be free as a reward to all their loyal fans for putting up with them..

Even if I liked them I wouldnt pay that kind of money to see them. Its plain offensive and greedy to charge loyal fans that kind of money. These guys are so rich it's obscene and yet they try to wring more money out of their fans.

The Strolling Bones, as we affectionally call them nowadays. But must say awesome group. Saw them in Brissy some years ago now. Mick Jagger can still do his stuff. Not the prettiest group of musicians to look at, but boy can they ROCK!

I saw the Stones in Invercargill about 1964, in Inverrcargill, South New Zealand. I have a feeling they were the supporting act for Roy Orbison but memories do fade so maybe not. I was outside when a local shut the door of the car that they were travelling in, maybe a Morris Minor, deliberately on Jagger's leg. It must have really hurt him. I have always wanted to say sorry because of that incident and the feelings that were expressed by the man who shut the door was certainly not what the general public thought. I enjoyed their concert and even with the simplicity of the equipment back there you had to admire their energy and presentation. So sorry Mick from a resident of Invercargill - it really is not the ar*****le of the world and most people loved you guys. Thank you but the new tickets are too expensive.

Most of you obviously have no idea how much it costs to bring out TOP LINE acts, I would pay it without any concerns, and have done, Fleetwood Mac, 2 years ago, $600 for A tickets each and well worth the price, would have paid any amount to see Elvis, mortgage my house if I had too, why do you think all the Stones shows are sold out, anybody got 2 A tickets to sell? fastkevin13@yahoo.com.au

I like the rolling stones music but there is no way I would pay a ridiculous amount of money to go to a concert for a band that is as old as them. With age comes the deterioration of live concerts.

One of the greatest bands of all time but not worth the money that is being charged for in the upcoming concerts in Australia. The Majority of people who attend these concerts can hardly afford $500 each

I have no problem paying that price - they are one of my all time favourite banks and tried to get tickets for Melbourne but none were available by the time I logged on. They offered a range of prices so you could find something you could afford if you got in early.

It's ironic that vickbenia mentioned 1973 because it's pretty much downhill for the Stones creatively since then and that was 40 years ago ... their best live album was Get yer ya yas out recorded in 1969 with Mick taylor playing one of the greatest ever live solos in Sympathy for the devil .. Exile on main street (1971) was their best ever studio work and since then there have been occasional flashes of the old magic but it's all been pretty much a money making exercise to fulfil contractual obligations and/or to pay for all their various excesses

They have to be one of my all time favourite rock groups and as much as I would love to see them, having been unable to do so on previous tours, there is no way I can justify the prices being charged even for lower class tickets. Will just have to keep enjoying their music from the past 50 years.

Would love to see the Rolling Stones, but at $600, probably rather go away for the weekend, and eat yummy food for 2-3 days.

I know I will be disappointed so am not going, I would rather remember their musical greatness as it stands. Imagine how many cds, dvds, and memorabilia you can buy for $600! I could just get a huge TV and a great DVD and have my own concert at home in comfort and see more than what I would see if I was at the concert, Unless you could afford front row,if you can even get them.

$600 for a single ticket? That's extortion, pure and simple. I wouldn't pay that to see TEN awesome bands over an entire weekend, let alone a bunch of geriatric has-been's like the Strolling Bones, Ew. I've never liked them, and I'm not going to start now.

I saw them in the 70's and I'd happily pay that amount for their tickets, you haven't lived if you haven't seen Jagger *Strut His Stuff* on stage, even at his age now the man can move. They are legends

I feel that $600. for any concert is way to much to spend on any band and or singers. $600. is a lot of money, I know that I would not be able to scrape it up, even if I wished to which I don't. I have been to a lot of concerts over the years and I have followed a lot of bands, singers, but no one is worth going t see if you have to pay through the nose to go and most likely not see much or even really enjoy it. I prefer to remember them as they were, rather than old men singing. I'm sorry but we are all getting older and I would rather enjoy the music and listen at home or driving to it, than forking out a lot of money and not enjoying it as much!

I've followed and liked The Stones right from when they began. But no way I'll be paying out that sort of money (double that if I go with my wife or a friend). Way over the top for any concert IMHO.

I've seen the Stones once. Year was 2007, it was in St. Petersburg, Russia, at the Palace Square. A spectacular location and the concert that rocked my world. I was right there near the stage. Would I do it again? Perhaps. However, I think the asking price that kind of ticket is just too steep.

So I was prepared to pay the $200 - $350 that I could afford for a ticket so went on-line at the designated time for the pre-sale for the Perth Concert and couldn't even get on to the site as it was obviously so overloaded. So disappointed. I saw them in Melbourne 40 years ago and would so have loved to see them one last time. Only one show, it's impossible, so sad.
