I think that they should at least wait until Halloween is over before they start to put them up or start to sell them.

I start planning my christmas display in June\July and I think its great that they put decorations and such out early so I have plenty of time to purchase what I need to make my home into a christmas wonderland for my children, nephews and nieces not to mention all the other kids in my street who get very excited when they see my front yard light up every night. I have 5 kids of my own and even my 13 year old gets out and helps me create a wonderful display every year. It usually takes me anywhere up to a week to put my yard display together and 3 or 4 days to do inside. I started off very small and add new lights and inflatables to my display every year.

As long as suppliers make the product available to all retailers then there is no real issue. As for the timing of the product in store, well they can only sell it once so why are people so upset that they are selling it now? I figure there are many other real issues that people ignore that are crucial to our country's future and Chrissy decs are no where near the top.

Personally I think they are out earlier each year. This year they were out straight after Father's Day. It must be hard for people with kids, they'd be always asking when Santa is coming. It drives me nuts, but at least they have yet to start on the recorded xmas carols.

It's too early, the concept of Christmas shouldn't be so materialsed and flamboyant! There's no need to go over board; a few simple decorations and a tree surrounded by friends and family is all you need!

i reckon its much to early it sets the kids the wrong impresion about christmas how are they suposed to know when it is.plus it puts a lot of preasure on the parents as well the shops should sell at the right time of the year maybe near the end of november would be better.

Ridiculous and greedy to have them out so early. There is enough in the shops and up by the check outs for the kids to be enticed by and get excited about as is let alone bright lights and santa. The extra pressure financially that just comes with christmas is enough without the early extention. Hold off till after halloween!!

Since I have my tree up already I think its great! With having step kids that are only here once every other week.. I put it up now and they only get to enjoy it 3 times before xmas, so with that in mind I think there is nothing wrong with getting in early

Well they have only been out the past couple of weeks where I live but the last few days I've really started to notice them. It makes me feel festive I like it. I have plenty of time to prepare and decide what I want. Apart from the fact I can't put them up yet at home, I feel pretty happy looking at them.

Absolutely crazy!!! November is the best time bringing out the Christmas decorations, not September. The same as I don't like Christmas in July. The special meaning of Christmas is being forgotten, which is sad to say or even think about.

i THINK ITS WAY TOO EARLY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE YOUNG KIDS AND  ALL YOU HEAR IS WHENS SANTA COMING FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS,  SO YOU HAVE TO TRY TO AVOID TAKING THEM SHOPPING WITH YOU TO RECLAIM YOUR SANITY.  I THINK NOVEMBER IS A BETTER TIME LIKE THE OLD DAYS, THEN IT STARTS TO FEEL MORE LIKE XMAS.

How does a christian celebration be labelled pagan. Pagan means not associated with any religion. It is commercialiseut that does not make it pagan.

Please tell me where you were born because it is definitely not Australia.  I was not born here and am not a Christian but I respect this country and the people and if Australians choose to celebrate Xmas (which it is - a celebration of the birth of Christ) I will join them.  They welcomed me into their country and now I am one of them.  So, my dear, if you are not happy here I guess you know what you should do - go somewhere else where they do not celebrate Xmas.

I've noticed that Coles and Woolworths seem to bring out the christmassy stuff shortly after Easter. It may not be noticable to most, but they have things go on sale for it, and they do the same for Easter, just after Christmas. It's stupid. They do do the Christmas stuff in November/December and not a month earlier.

Much too early for decos. We must try and keep it close to the actual date, to help children understand why we do it. It is a very Religious time and most families enjoy meeting up with family and having  good time.  Church attendance is very important to some families, so we don't want children placing more importance on gifts than prayer.

September is just so much too early.  I feel Late November would be the best time or when the Christmas Pageant is.  That is when Santa's Cave is opened and I remember as a child getting excited because it was getting close to Christmas.  It is too comercialized nowadays.  Bring back the original reasons for Christmas like when we were children in the 60's and 70's.

I agree, it is both crazy and inappropriate. It is also an ineffecient use of shop space as very few people will start purchasing Xmas stuff until December.Usually in the 2 weeks leading up to Xmas. I think that 1st of December would be an appropriate time to start Xmas decoration displays.

It does my head in!!!!  We literally saw footy grand final decorations and within the week there were Halloween & Christmas decorations up.  There is no reverence for it being Christmas just commercial pushing pushing pushing to buy anything and everything.  It makes it so hard for young children to understand that Christmas is then well over 3 months away.  Huge thumbs down to the retailers who do this.

Having the decos out so early takes away that special feeling of the season.   The retailers say it is for the convenience of shoppers to be able to shop without the last minute rush.  It is more a money grab for the retailers.

The year before last a christmas decoration shop opened in street front shop nearby. It's still there, although throughout the year the door are sometimes locked, it's only product is christmas stuff. I guess it's a case of first in best decorated. Pesonally I don't want to start thinking about christmas until a few weeks before. I can put up with the decorations. It's the early christmas carols bombarding me through supermarket PA systems that bug me.

Yes I do feel that they are out much earlier than they used to be. However it's not just Christmas Decorations that are out earlier. Easter is out in January, Hot Cross Buns out in January is also a little too much to handle. From what I have been told it's left over Decorations from the previous season. Decorations don't get stale but they do come out too early. But I love the Christmas Season, and I love looking at the the stores and the lights, they do have them out before time but it's a small problem. And I think that we can put up with it.
